Looking for Volunteers for My Mens Health and Mental Health Portrait Series

Here is the artwork that I show in the video

Line Drawing of Del
Watercolour and Ink of Anna

Transcript of video – Hi All Barbara Hulme here ,fine artist and portrayer of people’s beauty.

I am starting today by showing you a line drawing of my handsome friend Del Chakvarati, which I will be painting. He has volunteered to take part in my Men’s Health art series and will be writing 400 words about his health, to go with his portrait. Thank you Del for for volunteering. Im still looking for volunteers for my Men’s Health series which involved me painting a portrait from a photograph that you have chosen of yourself, and writing 400 words max, to go with your portrait, then both portraits and your story will be shared on social media.

I am also starting a new series of portraits with volunteers stories – written by themselves, max 400 words. This new series is about Mental Health. I have already painted and received the story from my first volunteer.

My friend Anna Carlotta, posted a wonderful photograph of herself on facebook, which was taken by her sister Kate JayR. I asked them for permission to use this photograph as I loved Anna’s hand positions and all the patterned fabrics in the photograph (which was in black and white). So I painted this, adding colour and with a bit of influence and artistic licence on the patterns and colours..

The painting portrays Anna who has some mental health issues and was recently diagnosed with autism and adhd. I believe that mental health impairments are more common in neurodiverse people, though they are also pretty prevelant amongst the general population.

Hope you all like my Klimt influenced interpretation of Anna, and if you are interested in featuring in my Mental Health Portrait series, please contact me with a view to providing me with a fabulous artistic photograph of yourself and telling your story in 400 words or less.

Thank you to all my wonderful volunteers that have collaborated with me through these health series.

Bye and see you all soon .
